Nokia N96 Phone With TV Arrives

The N95 is the fat, feature-laden boss at the top of Nokias multimedia phone range but now the company has revealed the successor, the N96. N96_cr.jpg The looks are somewhat more stylish and under the hood theres a lot of the functionality already found in the N95. Two of the more noticeable differences is the storage bump from 8GB to 16Gb good for around 40 hours of video - and the inclusion of a DVB-H receiver, the Euro standard for tuning in digital TV. Theres also a microSD card slot for adding another 8GB, if you really need it. It sports a large 2.8in display and even a handy kickstand so that you dont have to hold it when watching videos.  read more »

If you've been waiting for Apple to officially open the iPhone and iPod touch for development, you may have been disappointed to find out that you won't get third-party applications until June. new macbooks.jpg Apple has updated both its MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops but fashionista fans expecting some slinkier looks a la the new MacBook Air will be sorely disappointed. Unusually, Apples gone for the its whats on the inside that really counts approach, with a raft of speedy new Intel Core2Duo processors ranging from 2.4GHz to 2.6GHz, bigger hard disk drives (HDDs), up to 4GB of memory and more powerful graphics chips from nVidia. On the outside they do get one noticeable tweak with the addition of the Multi-Touch panel from the Air. More details, full specs and prices after the jump.  read more »

Customizable cell phones announced

modu.jpgWe all know that cell phones are dime a dozen, and basically everyone I know has one. I suppose only the retired segment of the population couldn’t care less about new features that are introduced with each generation of handsets, but a cell phone is an essential item for today and no longer considered to be a luxury gadget to have. While phone manufacturers have been pushing a whole bunch of handsets down our throats with each quarter (remember back in the good old days where Nokia released just a couple of handsets each year?), there are a couple of companies who have decided that the consumer should be the one who chooses what they want to see inside each handset instead of getting features which they don’t want/need.  read more »

XLink combines your landline and cell phones via Bluetooth

XLink I’m fortunate enough not to work in a large office. Generally speaking, large offices usually mean boring cubicles and annoying phone systems. The only phone lines that I worry about are my cell phone and my fax line. However, if you have an office phone, here’s a device that might make things a little easier for you. The Xlink Cellular Gateway will let you use your cellular phone as your home phone and use your home phone as your cell phone. Essentially what it does is take your existing office phone (or home phone, doesn’t really matter what you call it) and integrate it with up to three Bluetooth mobile phones.  read more »
